D2Coding Feels Like Part of the Team

The Stroke of Genius App takes all the fun of the Stroke of Genius game, and puts it on your phone! Be inspired by an Art Genius’ stroke and the randomly chosen Spark Word, to create your Masterpiece, and become and Art Genius yourself. Continue to inspire others by contributing a stroke of your own that will become the beginnings of another Art Genius’ Masterpiece.

Stroke of Genius is also social. Post your Masterpieces on your Facebook wall and invite others to play Stroke of Genius! Inspire and be inspired by your friends in collaborative Masterpieces!

There’s not a “help” section to the game yet, but checking out the Tutorial posts will give you a good feel for how the game is played.

If you have Analytics, check out your site overlay by clicking the link in the left hand corner.

The site overlay will also give you data regarding your goal conversions, but we have not not included Google Adwords on the D2Coding site, so the data was not useful to this article.

The navigation is considered stateful because it knows which state it should be in for a given page. You will notice that whichever page you are on, that page’s image is displayed in the middle of the slider, no matter where the image was when you left the last page. This makes sense, because often users wonder “Where am I?” on a site, which is why breadcrumbs, were created, and that is why links in some navigations are different colors for the current page.

The blog theme I am using isn’t very flexible, so please click to open in a new window and see this navigation as it could look on one of your client’s sites.

The navigation above can be configured by modifying a text file that configures the navigation item’s image, the item’s url, the caption and within the caption, the text colors. A snippet of the configuration text follows:

The configuration file is simple enough that someone who doesn’t know Flash should be able to modify the navigation to their liking. With some new images and a couple of tweaks to the configuration, you could turn this navigation into completely new looking navigation.

Another strength that may not be readily apparent by our name, is that we are more than "just coders". Yeah, we know our .NET, and Actionscript, but we also know the business you are in as well, and can help with brainstorming ideas and finding creative ways to meet your clients’ needs.

It is pretty clear what pieces of the configuration file should be modified to change the banner to your liking. It doesn’t take someone that knows Flash to turn this banner into a completely new looking banner.
